House hunting

So on top of everything, Jei and I have to find a new place to live because the apt that we are renting is being sold. Jei starts a new job tomorrow, welding. They are giving him a two week trial. We have three prospective places, one of which may end up being our new home! Pretty excited andI just hope everything works out!

So I got "Let Go" for nothing?

Yesterday we had to go pay bills with our quickly dwindling cache of money. I had left dvds at Radio Shack so I decided to pick them up.

Once I got in there and spoke with my former manager, he informs me that the so-called fraudulent sale that I had conducted under his authorization wasn't even fraudulent.
Nice, so now he's supposedly trying to get us our jobs back.

I've decided, since I've already had call backs from several places, that I am going to go with the highest pay. Even if we do get our jobs back, I am not too sure I want to go back......

Also I would just like to say, I am not trying to bad mouth Radio Shack or any of the people that work there. My manager was the best manager I have ever had in my life. The people of Radio Shack are amazing, they have never been mean or cold to me in anyway. I don't believe in basing my opinions on others, I like to form opinions on my own experiences and ideas.

I am just sharing my experience with a flawed system, and Radio Shack isn't the only place in the world that has them....

I have had my share of experiences with flawed systems before. One being the Adams County Court system.

Alas, I digress. I'll share more as I see fit.

Ciao

Major Update

Seriously? Over a year? We are such slackers!! Sorry!

Ok where to start? Well I'd like to start with last year. So last year around May 15th I started a job at Radio Shack. It was easy and fun and I really liked it. Around June 17th? Maybe 18th. I found out I was pregnant while using birth control. That was crazy.

So first time in my life I have ever worked while pregnant, it sucked. I fell at one point and my back got messed up so I had to go to the chiropractor. That fixed the back problems.
On March 3rd I had another son via c section. He was HUGE, at least compared to the twins. LOL
He weighed 9 lbs 1.3 oz.

So then I had a month of maternity leave which was super weird because I was so used to working! I was excited when I got back to work and being at Radio Shack our work depends on sales etc. I was having a great month back, seriously I was practically green across the board, meaning I was hitting my goals.

April 30th, I get a call from my manager. He let myself and a coworker go because of some supposed fraudulent sale that I rang up, but only after my manager approved it and gave my instructions on how to conduct it, which I followed strictly.......

Ah such is life!

So this is it. The defining moment of my life. I need to do something and something I like now. If I don't, who knows, maybe I'll be in the middle of a midlife crisis?

So I am going to be starting a new blog about my art. I use many different mediums and have many different techniques. I am going to post about art I like, art I make, and if you are good little boys and girls, I'll even post some tutorials. Heck if I get enough interested in it, I'll do requests! :p

For now I bid you ado!

Game creation back on track, sort of?

Well its been many many years now since Trapper and I first tried to make a game, Technology has gotten better and free game engine / creation apps are everywhere.

It seams now is a good time to pick this project back up (Since everyone keeps saying how bored they are). Kat and myself have been talking about making a new game for a few weeks now and here is what we have come up with so far.

1. We need to figure out what game engine to use.
1. Dinksmall wood (Upside: free, many graphics included. Downside: lots of coding and images to replace)
2. RPG Toolkit (Upside: free, easy to use, Downside: Never used before and seams to only do 2d style games)
3. Platinum Arts Sandbox (Upside: free even for commercial games, lots of features. Downside: never used and looks more graphic intensive.

2. A story line, can't even start if we don't have a story or game goal.
3. Anyone who is involved will need to learn (More then likely on their own unless we figure something out) how everything works, and how to do everything needed to make the final game work
4. Lots of testing, the last game was rushed to the point of becoming screen upon screen of unplayable junk. Only 1 model was actually made and never used.
5. A schedule for making the game, from story board to design, to testing.

So if your interested let us know. It will probably be a while longer before we actually try to start coming up with ideas. Anyone who wants to help will more then likely need to be in Keokuk, have a computer and preferably and Internet connection. Oh and lots of free time!

April 25th 2010 Update:

After looking at all the options from above I have decided between two.

1. Platinum Sandbox, for its 3d engine with life like lighting and simple build tools.

2. Dink Smallwood Engine for its easy use and pre-existing examples.

I checked the RPG tool-kit and it seams to be limited to side scroll type games or overhead 2d games. Although creating a game in RPG toolkit would probably take less time. I think the 2d limitation would make it less fun to work with. Perhaps another game.

Platinum Sandbox is pretty robust. Although it does lack some things that will need to be created, such as new models, textures, and tons of scripts. However, this engine has the easiest map builder out of the others and many items are already built in. And unlike Dink shadows from lights are generated for you.

Dink smallwood was only an option because of its previous use. With that said it could be a great deal of work to create a unique game since all new models and textures would also need created.

Also with Platinum Sandbox we have the option of creating either 3d style side scrollers or first person / 3rd person view games.
